Privacy Policy
Who we are
Garden Manager (garden-manager.com) is operated by Barstow PC Pros ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy or your data: [email protected].
What we collect
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Account details: name, email address, and your password (stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in readable form) | To create your account, sign you in, and send password-reset emails |
| Garden setup: area names, plants, notes, photos you upload, watering rules and preferences | To show and run your garden |
| Equipment details: device names, models, network addresses and identifiers of the sensors, hubs and valves you connect | To read your sensors and control your valves |
| Readings and history: soil moisture, temperature and other sensor readings, local weather from your station, watering runs, flow and alerts | To make watering decisions, show charts and history, and warn you about problems |
| Garden location and time zone (approximate coordinates you choose) | To get your weather forecast and water at the right local times |
| Logins and keys for other services you choose to connect, such as a Netro API key, your B-hyve email and password, or a Discord webhook | To talk to those services on your behalf. These are encrypted before they are stored and are never shown back to your browser. |
| Technical information: IP address and basic request details handled by our servers and our network provider | To keep the service secure, for example to slow down repeated wrong passwords |
What we don't do
- We do not sell or share your personal information, as those terms are defined under California law.
- We do not show advertising and do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
- We do not use your information to build profiles about you.
Services that process data for us
To work, Garden Manager relies on a few outside services. Each receives only what it needs:
- Cloudflare: carries traffic between your browser and our server and protects it from attacks.
- National Weather Service (weather.gov): receives your garden's approximate coordinates to return a forecast.
- Open-Meteo: receives the city or ZIP code you type when searching for your garden's location.
- Device makers' online services (for example Netro and Orbit B-hyve): only if you connect that equipment, and only to read and control your own devices. Equipment such as Ecowitt hubs and LinkTap gateways is reached directly on your home network.
- Discord: only if you turn on Discord alerts; we send alert messages to the webhook you provide.
- Email provider: to deliver password-reset emails.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of people or property.
Cookies and local storage
We use one cookie, and it is strictly necessary: it keeps you signed in. Because it's needed for the service to work, no consent banner is required.
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| gm_session | Cookie (secure, not readable by scripts) | Keeps you signed in | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| gm.look | Browser storage | Remembers your chosen theme | Until you clear it |
| gm.dur | Browser storage | Remembers your last chosen watering durations | Until you clear it |
| Offline page | App cache | Shows a friendly page when your phone is offline | Until updated |
No advertising, analytics or third-party tracking cookies are used. Fonts and images are served from our own server.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), your account, garden, equipment connections, readings, history, photos and stored logins are permanently deleted. Copies in server backups, if any, are overwritten within 30 days.
How we protect it
Every garden is kept separate from every other account at the database level. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes; logins and keys for other services are encrypted; connections to garden-manager.com are encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can see and edit your garden information in the app, and delete your account at any time. If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use and disclose;
- get a copy of your personal information;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your personal information;
- not be discriminated against for using these rights.
To make a request, email [email protected] from your account's email address. We may need to confirm it's you, and we'll respond within 45 days.
Children
Garden Manager is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
